After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in May of 1998, I moved to San Antonio where I attended St. Mary’s University to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialty of Marriage and Family Therapy. After completing my graduate studies, I worked with several non-profit organizations prior to joining Methodist Healthcare System as a Program Therapist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.
In 2005, I relocated with my husband to the Georgetown area where I joined the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at Scott & White in Temple, Texas. During my time with Scott & White, I have had opportunities to collaborate with Physicians, Psychologists, Social Workers, and many other specialists within the healthcare organization.
In 2007, I was appointed as a Clinical Instructor with the Texas A&M Health Science Center where I developed and facilitated lectures to Medical Students and Medical Residents in the Department of Psychiatry. I was an Adjunct Instructor of Psychology at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor as well as the Intern/Practicum coordinator for the Scott & White Military Homefront Services, a program funded by the Texas Veteran’s Commission.
In 2012, I joined the Round Rock Specialty Clinic at Baylor Scott & White and was given opportunities to represent the organization with numerous media, and television appearances as well opportunities to present at community health fairs and related events.
I have extensive experience in working with family systems, adults, adolescents, and children 5 years old and up. I have years of experience working with clients on issues of anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem, addiction, marital and couples counseling, and PTSD/trauma.
My Approach
Should you ever encounter a therapist that tells you they have the answers for you . . . Run Away!!!
Therapy is a deeply personal process that is not about fixing an issue, but rather creating a safe place for growth, insight, and healing. I will never claim to have answers or magical solutions to another’s unique story or experience. What I can offer is years of experience with creating safety and warmth for those who have difficulty finding those environments. I have a genuine affection, curiosity, and appreciation for the rich and often inspiring life stories that my clients share with me. I will never claim to know what is best for another. I believe that if a person can experience an environment that is accepting, warm, respectful, and private, they will be able to gain the insight needed to resolve their discomfort, or at least, find the tools that have been with them all along. I am truly grateful that people share their lives with me every day.
